Introduction to Dao Liao (Knife Massage)
The technique of care by the knives has 7000 years of existence. It was practiced in ancient China during the spring and fall (8th-5th century BC) in monasteries by monks. This natural therapy has been passed in China until the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and in Japan today.

Principles and benefits of Dao Liao(Knife Massage)

The primary function of Dao Liao(Knife Massage) is to facilitate exchange of energy (气). In this sense it is a form of qigong (气功). This practice is based on the principle that human beings are bodies of energy and have positive and negative magnetic poles. After receiving a harmonization magnetic energy by Dao Liao, the energy field and the patient’s vital energy will be balanced.

Through the mediation of knives and the practitioner, the positive life energy of the universe enters the body of the patient and the patient’s negative stagnant energy is released into the universe to be transformed. This treatment allows the patient’s energy field to be changed to a dynamic and positive.

The beneficial effects of this energy exchange and transformation of this energy field are manifold: relaxation of body and mind, increase blood circulation and lymphatic flow, natural pain relief, improved sleep quality, cell regeneration, balance between hot and cold internal states of the body, reducing fat and water retention, unlocking and opening the energy meridians and acupuncture points.

Increased blood circulation and lymphatic flow allows both better health and faster healing of diseases. When the organs, viscera, muscles and bones are the positive energy of knives, it regenerates the cells to be active and thus improves internal organ function. The Dao Liao(Knife Massage) can help relieve problems such as hypertension, cardiovascular problems, stress, insomnia and immune deficiencies.

The Dao Liao(Knife Massage) differs from regular massage in that the effects are deeper and more holistic. While regular massage focuses on specific areas of the physical body, the Dao Liao(Knife Massage) addresses the entire system of balance of energy and energy field. With this, the whole body feels lighter and the practitioner feels calmer and more energized after a session. In addition, the effects of Dao Liao(Knife Massage) last longer than regular massage.

To start the session, you will lie on your stomach on the massage table. Practitioner will practice the Dao Liao(Knife Massage) on you; first working on areas with nowadays more stress: shoulders, buttocks and feet. When these energy zones are open, the practitioner will go over the areas where energy is specifically blocked. These zones can be intuitively felt through the practitioner using knives. He/She spent more time to allow blood and energy flow better. The energy blockage causes pain, stiffness and discomfort and leads to disease. The practitioner has the important role of eliminating these obstacles.

For a one-hour session, care will be all over the body, from head to foot, and the back.

Initially, most patients are afraid of knives. However, the knives used are not sharp and are very nice when used on muscles and nerve points. In fact often the patient falls asleep during the session so it is in a state of relaxation.
